Opferfürsorge#
Victims of National Socialist Regime, Legal Provisions Governing Compensation of, provisions made by law (1945 and 1947) for the compensation of victims of political persecution and the fight for a democratic Austria under the National Socialist regime from 1933-1945 as well as for their surviving dependants. According to these legal provisions, holders of an authorisation certificate receive compensation pensions for Nazi victims or their surviving dependants as well as maintenance payments dependent on the amount of their income. The laws also provide for various types of preferential treatment, welfare services and other compensation measures for holders of an authorisation certificate or victim´s identity card. As of July 1, 1997, a total of 2,750 victims of the Nazi regime and their surviving dependants were receiving such compensation.
