Ottenschlag, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Zwettl, alt. 849 m, pop. 1,130, area 26.15 km2, in the southern Waldviertel region. - District Chamber of Agriculture and Allied Workers, highway maintenance depot, agricultural trade school, airport for motor gliders; warehouse, building enterprise. - Centre of the Lower Austrian peasants´ uprising in 1596. Late-Gothic parish church in the centre of the town (enlarged after 1696) with Baroque decorations; castle (16th century) with 3 corner towers and Renaissance portal (1554).
