Furtwaengler, 1932-1940 general director of music in Heidelberg; close connections to R. Wagner's descendants, took over the musical education of Wieland Wagner in 1940 and managed to establish the Bayreuth Symphony Orchestra in 1947-1950. After working in the USA 1962-1973 professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
