Pässe und Passstraßen#

Passes and Pass Roads; in Austria there are numerous Alpine and pass roads, some of which are very steep. The best-known of these roads are Pyhrn Autobahn (A 9), Tauern Autobahn (A 10) and Brenner Autobahn (A 13), Arlberg Schnellstrasse road (S 16) and Semmering Schnellstrasse road (S 6) and many others (e.g. Grossglockner-Hochalpenstrasse and the Silvretta, Wechsel, Zellerrain Pass, Radl Pass, Obdacher, Wurzen Pass, Schober Pass, Ploecken Pass, Pyhrn Pass, Achensee, Arlberg, Lofer, Fern Pass and Reschen). Some of these roads are closed for some months during winter due to weather conditions and for safety reasons.
