Paltental#
Palten Valley, Styria, lateral valley drained by the Palten river in the southeastern part of the Upper Ennstal valley. The valley stretches from northeast of Selzthal (alt. 636 m) to the Schober Pass (alt. 849 m) and is continued by the Liesing Valley. The Palten Valley and Liesing Valley (the two of them together were formerly known as Kammertal Valley) form the North-Southeast connection between the Ennstal and Murtal valleys (Pyhrn autobahn, Linz - Selzthal - Graz railway lines). Main villages in Palten Valley are Rottenmann (alt. 681 m), Kalwang (alt. 755 m) and Trieben (alt. 709 m) at the western end of the valley.
