Peichl, Gustav#
b. Vienna, March 18, 1928, architect and caricaturist under the pseudonym "Ironimus" for the papers "Sueddeutsche Zeitung" (from 1964), "Presse" and the Austrian broadcasting corporation (ORF). Student at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under C. Holzmeister; 1952-1954 worked with R. Rainer; since 1956 self-employed in Vienna; founder of the magazine "Bau" (with H. Hollein, W. Pichler and O. Oberhuber); from 1973-1996 head of the Master School for Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. famous for his design of all ORF provincial studios throughout Austria; in his unique work he combines technical aesthetics, classical proportions, wit and sensuality. Grand Austrian State Prize 1971, 1975 Reynolds Memorial Award (USA) and numerous other prizes.
