Penck, Albrecht#
b. Reudnitz near Leipzig (Germany), Sept. 25, 1858, d. Prague (Czech Republic), March 7, 1945, geographer, geomorphologist, father of Walther Penck. 1885-1906 university professor in Vienna, 1906-1927 in Berlin, where he headed the Institute and Museum of Oceanology (until 1918). Specialised in geomorphology and climatology and raised the "Viennese School" of physical geography to international status.
