b. Linz (Upper Austria), July 10, 1934, neurosurgeon, trained as a druggist, then studied medicine and worked for a short time at the General Hospital in Linz; Assistant to H. Kraus at the neurosurgical university department in Vienna. Established a neurosurgical paediatric department in Kiel. Since 1990 head of the neurosurgical university department in Graz. Was particularly successful with radiosurgical operations using the "Gamma Knife".
