Piffl-Perčević, Theodor#

b. Merano/Meran (South Tyrol), Sept. 17, 1911, d. Graz (Styria), Dec. 22, 1994, studied law, politician (Austrian People´s Party, OeVP). 1938 and 1939-1940 political prisoner, 1945 official of the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture (1950 deputy director of the Chamber), 1960-1969 member of the Nationalrat, 1964-1969 Federal Minister of Education. 1969 resigned when he failed to enforce the introduction of the 13th year of compulsory schooling. 1969-1989 chairman of the "Pro Oriente" foundation.
