Ploberger, Herbert#
b. Wels (Upper Austria), April 6, 1902, d. Munich (Germany), Jan. 22, 1977, painter, graphic artist, set and costume designer; representative of New Realism New Objectivity. From 1921 student at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts under F. Cizek and A. Boehm and others. 1925 studied in Paris, 1927 moved to Berlin, where he did illustrations for the magazine "Der Querschnitt". 1930 worked with M. Reinhardt in Berlin and 1933 for the famous Faust settings of the Salzburg Festivals. 1934-1944 worked in the film industry e.g. for the Ufa, 1946-1950 set designer at the Landestheater in Linz and at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna, 1951-1977 filmwork in Munich.
