Porcia, Schloss#
Porcia Palace, Carinthia, in Spittal an der Drau, one of the most important Renaissance buildings in Austria, construction began around 1533, built for Gabriel of Salamanca, the closest confidant of Emperor Ferdinand I (1662-1915 owned by the Princes Porcia, since 1915 owned by the city). Inner court with three-storey arcades; Roman stones from Sankt Peter im Holz and Faschendorf; eight-cornered chapel tower at the corner of the east wing; palace gardens (19th century). - Museum of popular culture; since 1961 theatre performances in summer.
