Puchberg am Schneeberg, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Neunkirchen, alt. 585 m, pop. 3,021, area 83.15 km2, bi-seasonal tourist resort and climatic health resort (121,716 overnight stays in 1992, primarily in the summer) located in the basin of the Sierning river at the Lower Austrian foot of the Schneeberg mountain. - Wellness centre, Schneeberg indoor recreational facility, forest administration of the Vienna magistrate's department 49, provincial youth home of Lower Austria, holiday house of the Vienna Public Transport Works, workshop of the Lebenshilfe charity, small power station, rack-railway to the Hochschneeberg mountain (alt. 1,796 m); gypsum works. - Late Gothic parish church (first documented mention in 1069), built in 1498-1526, redesigned in 1945 after it was destroyed by fire; ruins of Castle Puchberg am Schneeberg (12th century), and Losenheim centre.
