Radstädter Tauern#
Radstaedter Tauern Mountains, western-most group of the Niedere Tauern Mountains in the province of Salzburg, separate the Pongau and the Lungau regions. Summits: Weisseck (alt. 2,711 m), Hochfeind (alt. 2,687 m), Mosermandl (alt. 2,680 m). The Radstaedter Tauern Mountains are part of the Central Alps and have a very complex geological nappe structure consisting of crystalline schists and limestone at the end of the Tauern window, with rocky summits and ridges bordered by detrital slopes. Although the mountains are non-glaciated, many have cirques and cirque lakes formed by ice age glaciation. Mountain refuges: Franz Fischer Huette (alt. 2,018 m) located on Lake Zaunersee, Tappenkarseehuette (alt. 1,820 m), Suedwiener Huette (alt. 1,802 m); ski resorts near Wagrain and Grossarl ("Wagrainer Spaziergang" / Wagrain Walk), at Flachauwinkel, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee and Obertauern.
