Raiffeisenverband, Österreichischer#

Raiffeisenverband, Oesterreichischer, established in 1898 (until 1960 under the title "Allgemeiner Verband fuer das landwirtschaftliche Genossenschaftswesen in Oesterreich"), is the national central office for all Austrian Raiffeisen associations ( Raiffeisen Zentralbank Oesterreich AG, Raiffeisen Ware Austria, Berglandmilch and others) and all provincial central associations for the sectors money, warehouse cooperatives and dairies. In 1998 674 Raiffeisenkassen, 129 commodity cooperatives, 40 dairy cooperatives, 238 other dairy industry -related cooperatives, 17 animal processing cooperatives, 38 wine processing cooperatives and 212 other processing cooperatives with a total of 2,181,514 members made up Oesterreichischer Raiffeisenverband (1992: 1,971 cooperatives with 2,178,997 members). The highest representative of Oesterreichischer Raiffeisenverband is the president who is elected by the general assembly every four years.
