Rebernigg#
Rebernigg, family of circus performers through 8 generations. Their circus was founded around 1840; after World War I they performed mainly in Austria, but also in neighbouring countries. In 1935, the film "Circus Saran" was made at the Circus R. After World War II, the circus stayed mainly in Vienna, from 1950 it travelled around again. In 1954 it adopted the name "Austrian National Circus", but was not able to stand up to the strong foreign competition. The last performance of the "Austrian National Circus" took place in 1969; in 1973 it was taken over by Elfi Althoff-Jacobi, in 1993 by L. Knie.
