Rettenbacher, Simon (also S. Rettenpacher), b. Aigen near Salzburg, Oct. 19, 1634, d. Kremsmuenster (Upper Austria), May 10, 1706, chronicler, composer, poet (Latin and German). Main representative of Benedictine Instructional Religious Plays; 1671-1675 teacher of ethics and history and director of the university theatre in Salzburg, then librarian in Kremsmuenster. 1689-1705 priest in Fischlham.
