Reutter, Georg der Jüngere#
Reutter, Georg the Younger, baptized Vienna, April 6, 1708, d. Vienna, March 11, 1772, composer and organist, son of Georg Reutter the Elder, husband of court singer Therese Holzhauser. From 1731 court organist, from 1727 also a composer (mainly operas and oratorios); from 1736 kapellmeister at St. Stephen´s Cathedral (teacher of J. Haydn and M. Haydn); from 1747 kapellmeister at court (reformed the court music orchestra). Was one of the most prolific composers of his time, but his works are of a rather stereotypical nature and not of particularly high quality.
