Riccabona, Max eigentlich M. von Riccabona zu Reichenfels#
b. Feldkirch (Vorarlberg), March 31, 1915, d. Lochau (Vorarlberg), Oct. 4, 1997, lawyer and writer. Author of experimental prose and poetry. Studied law. Studied in Graz and Innsbruck, 1936-1938 at the Consular Academy in Vienna, participated in the organization of the resistance in France, 1942-1945 interned at Dachau concentration camp. From 1945 chairman of the "Austrian Democratic Freedom Movement" ("Oe.-demokrat. Freiheitsbewegung") in Vorarlberg. Numerous publications in periodicals and anthologies; regarded as the doyen of Austrian avant-garde literature. From 1957 worked on an experimental novel, of which only excerpts have been published ("Bauelemente zur Tragikomoedie des x-fachen Dr. von Halbgreyffer oder Protokolle einer progressivsten Halbbildungsinfektion", 1980).
