Richter, Elise#
Richter, Elise, b. Vienna, March 2, 1865, d. Theresienstadt concentration camp (Terezín, Czech Republic), June 23, 1943, linguist. first woman in Austria to be granted a lectureship in Romance philology (1907) and the first woman to carry the title of university professor (1922). Head of the Institute of Phonetics at the University of Vienna, researched the physiological and psychological fundamentals of language.
