Rismondo, Piero#
b. Trieste, Italy, Feb. 15, 1905, d. Klagenfurt, Carinthia, Feb. 9, 1989. writer and journalist. Raised in Vienna, where he began his career as a journalist in the 1920s. Left Austria in 1938; 1945-52 director of the Teatro Verdi in Rijeka, Croatia; returned to Vienna in 1952. On the staff of the newspaper "Die Presse" from 1954 to 1970: cultural and literary editor 1954-61, 1961-70 theatre critic and feuilletonist. Awarded the Austrian State Prize for Journalism in 1979, the Austrian State Prize for Literary Translation in 1986.
