Rossatz-Arnsdorf#
Rossatz-Arnsdorf, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Krems, alt. 225 m, pop. 1,127, area 39.04 km2, on the southern bank of the Danube, in the Wachau Valley. - Wine and fruit growing, huchen breeding station, summer tourism (25,579 overnight stays in 1992). Important shipping station from the 14th to the 19th centuries. - Gassengruppendorf village with houses built around a triangular green; Gothic parish church at centre, extended in basilican form in the 18th century; palace (1592-1600); statue of Johann Nepomuk (1721); pillory (1633); town hall with council chamber (1624); vintner houses typical of the Wachauer region; remains of a siege tower dating from late Antiquity in the Windstallgraben trough Arnsdorf.
