Rottenmanner Tauern#
Rottenmanner Tauern Mountains, Upper Styria, north-easternmost mountain range of the Niedere Tauern Mountains, includes Grosser Boesenstein mountain (2,448 m), Dreistecken mountain (2,382 m), Zinkenkogel mountain (2,233 m), Seitnerzinken mountain (2,164 m). The Triebener Tauern mountain pass separates the Rottenmanner Tauern mountains from the Triebener Tauern mountains and the Grosse Windlucken mountain (1,857 m) from the Woelzer Tauern mountain. Magnesite is mined at Trieben, graphite at Hohentauern. Mountain refuges: Edelraute refuge (1,706 m) on the Kleiner Scheibelsee lake, Rottenmanner refuge (1,650 m).
The name Rottenmanner Tauern also refers to a mountain pass
(1,278 m) which connects the Paltental valley (Trieben) with the
Poelstal valley (the Trieben-Thalheim route).
