Sörgel von Sorgenthal, Conrad#
b. Nuernberg, Germany, 1735, d. Vienna, Oct. 17, 1805, civil servant, director of various manufactories. After years in charge of various textile manufactories, from 1784 to his death director of the Porzellanmanufaktur Augarten and chief officer in charge of government manufactories. Under his directorship porcelain manufacturing experienced a great economic and artistic ("epoch of painting") upswing.
