Südmähren#

Southern Moravia: The majority of the population of the Moravian border regions (districts of Nikolsburg (Mikulov), Znaim (Znojmo), Neubistritz (Nova Bystrice)) was German-speaking. Close ties with Lower Austria existed until 1918. In October 1938 these regions were ceded by the ČSR to Germany and united with the Niederdonau gau; the German-speaking population was expelled in 1945.
