Sahulka, Johann#
b. Deutsch-Wagram, Lower Austria, Dec. 25, 1857, d. Vienna, Oct. 8, 1927, electrical engineer. Studied physics and mathematics at Vienna University, taught at various secondary schools in Vienna, and embarked on his academic career in 1889 as teaching assistant at the Prague University of Technology; 1903-22 Professor of Electrical Engineering at Vienna University of Technology. Discovered the rectifier effect of mercury arcs; engaged in research in the fields of mechanical engineering, light optics, metrology and communication engineering.
