Salzburger Kalkalpen#
Salzburg Limestone Alps, part of the Northern Limestone Alps, diversified landscape. Lofer and Leogang Mountains, Steinernes Meer Mountains, Hochkoenig Mountain (highest peak, alt. 2,941 m and, the only mountain of the Salzburg Limestone Alps featuring a glacier), the Uebergossene Alm Glacier, Hagengebirge Mountains, Untersberg Mountain, Tennengebirge Mountains and the Berchtesgaden Alps (mainly belonging to Bavaria) are predominantly karstified lime stock with plateaux and precipices of trias rock (especially Dachstein Limestone). The lower Osterhorn Mountains ("Salzburg Forealps" (Salzburg Alpine Forelands)) are predominantly made of Jurassic rocks. The Salzburg Limestone Alps are rich in building raw materials (Untersberg and Adnet Limestone, Oberalm Strata) and in caves (Eisriesenwelt ("Giant Ice World")) in the Tennengebirge Mountains).
