Schönthan, Franz, Edler von Pernwald#
b. Vienna, June 20, 1849, d. Vienna, Dec. 2, 1913. Actor, director, dramatist; brother of Paul Schoenthan Edler von Pernwald. 1867-1871 Austrian Navy officer, then actor and dramatist (military comedies and farces), from 1878 especially in Berlin. 1883/84 senior director at the Vienna Municipal Theatre, from 1884 freelance writer in Berlin and Blasewitz near Dresden, from 1896 again in Vienna. Wrote comedies which enjoyed great popularity, often in co-operation with his brother Paul. Best known for his "Der Raub der Sabinerinnen" (with Paul S., 1885).
