Scharf, Erwin#
b. Třeboń, Czech Republic (then Wittingau), Aug. 29, 1914, d. Vienna, Sept. 6, 1994, journalist and politician (Austrian Socialist Party SPOe, Austrian Communist Party KPOe). 1934-1938 official of the illegal Revolutionary Socialists, 1938-1940 imprisoned; 1945-1947 SPOe chief party secretary, 1948 excluded from the party because of his sympathies with the Communist Party. 1945-1948 and 1949-1953 member of the Nationalrat. 1949 founded the Leftist Socialist Party that merged with the Communist Party in 1956. 1957-1965 editor in chief of the "Volksstimme".
