Schindel, Robert#
b. Bad Hall (Upper Austria), April 4, 1944. Writer. Survived in a Nazi "welfare home" after the arrest of his Jewish parents, who had taken an active part in the Resistance. 1970/71 editor of the literary magazine "Hundsblume". After collections of poems such as "Ohneland" (1986) and "Im Herzen die Kraetze" (1988) his novel "Gebuertig", an ironic-sarcastic work on anti-Semitism and the Austrian way of "coming to terms with their history", was published in 1992. E. Fried Prize in 1993.
