Schlögl, Karl, geb. 1924#
b. Vienna, Oct. 5, 1924, d. Vienna, May 5, 2007, chemist. Studied chemistry in Vienna, then trained at the University of Manchester, from 1959 lecturer in organic chemistry at the University of Vienna, from 1971 full professor, 1974-1990 head of the Department of Organic Chemistry, 1991-1995 general secretary of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Schloegl spearheaded research into the three-dimensional aspects of organic compounds and achieved international renown for the development of new medical drugs.
