Schottwien#
Schottwien, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Neunkirchen, alt. 599 m, pop. 685, area 12.48 km2, some summer tourism, located on the Heidbach stream, by the Semmeringschnellstrasse express road. Smallest brewery in Austria. - Originally named "Klamm" (first documented mention 1125); late-Gothic parish church (core from the 14th and 15th centuries), alterations 1888-1898. 2 gates and parts of the defense towers (16th century) of the fortifications barring the valley (13th century, "Schad Wien") have been preserved; ruins of Klamm Castle, built on and between rocks, impressive enclosing walls, destroyed by the French in 1805, keep and buildings from the 16th century have been preserved; partly restored after 1830 (late-Gothic wooden doors, collections of armours and paintings), late-Gothic chapel, choir stalls (1830); plague column (1650), Baroque Trinity column; also located in the municipality are Sonnwendstein Mountain (1523 m), the Adlitzgraben gorge and Maria Schutz village with a Passionist convent and Baroque pilgrimage church (1738), curative spring behind the Baroque high altar (1740); parsonage (17th century).
