b. Scheibbs (Lower Austria), Oct. 17, 1804, d. Vienna, Dec. 22, 1865. Surgeon. University professor in Vienna, performed the first pericardiocentesis in 1840, established etherization in Austria and contributed to the development of medical instruments and bandages.
