Schulgesetzwerk 1962#
School Legislation of 1962, set of legal provisions regulating the Austrian education system under Federal Minister H. Drimmel; does not cover universities and institutions of higher learning (1966, 1983), agricultural and forestry schools (1966, 1975) and the service regulations for the teaching professions. It comprises an amendment to the Federal Constitution of July 18, 1962 (regulating the competences of the federal government and the provincial governments), the Federal School Inspection Act passed on July 25, 1962 (organising the administration and supervision of schools by federal authorities), the School Organisation Act (purpose, structure, organisation and designation of Austrian schools; introduction of the Polytechnischer Lehrgang, the Oberstufenrealgymnasium, the teacher training colleges (Paedagogische Akademien), the Compulsory Education Act ( Compulsory Education between the ages of 6 and 15, compulsory attendance of vocational schools for apprentices), the Private School Act (regulating legal positions, public subsidy of denominational private schools under public law) and an amendment to the Religious Instruction Act of 1949 (introducing religious instruction into vocational schools).
