Schwingshackel, Johann#
b. Ried/Welsberg (South Tyrol), May 4, 1887, d. Munich (Germany), Feb. 27, 1945. Priest, opponent of the Nazi regime. Joined the Jesuit order in Innsbruck in 1919, moved to Vienna in 1938, then worked in Steyr and in Bad Schallerbach (Upper Austria), where he was arrested for criticising the Nazi regime in his sermons. Sentenced to death on these grounds, died of tuberculosis during his imprisonment.
