Seisenegger, Jacob#
b. 1505, d. Linz (Upper Austria), Dec. (?), 1567, from 1531 painter at the court of Ferdinand I. Undertook numerous journeys for Ferdinand I, e.g. to Spain and the Netherlands; important portraitist of the court, painted among others the full-length portraits of Emperor Charles V kept in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna (1532, model for the emperor's portrait by Titian, 1532/1533, Prado, Madrid) and of Archduke Ferdinand II of Tyrol (1548); stylistically related to the Augsburg school of painting.
