b. Vienna, Oct. 19, 1939, d. Vienna, July 10, 1986. Physicist. From 1971 professor of general theory of relativity and cosmology in Vienna; 1971-1975 head of the Institute of Aerospace Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences; had the rare talent of making complex physical procedures easily understandable.
