Silbertal#
Silbertal, Vorarlberg, municipality in the district of Bregenz, alt. 889 m, pop. 847, area 88.61 km2, bi-seasonal tourist resort (79,709 overnight stays) on River Litz, in the Montafon region. - Village and valley derived their name from silver mining in the Late Middle Ages, which lasted until around 1600. - Neo-Gothic parish church (1892) with late Gothic tabernacle niche; late Gothic church on Kristberg Mountain with two late Gothic winged altars (around 1477-1490), prayer room with wooden ceiling; shingle-roofed Montafon houses; gondola ropeway up Kristberg Mountain.
