Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße#
Silvretta Alpine Road, toll road of the Vorarlberger Illwerke AG, opened to traffic in 1954; only alpine road connection between the Montafon (Vorarlberg) and Paznaun valleys (Tyrol); a 22.5 km long road with 32 bends, running from Partenen (1,051 m) to Bielerhoehe Pass (2,037 m) with the Silvretta storage lake, passing the Vermunt storage lake, and running through the Kleinvermunt valley to Galtuer (1,584 m) in the Tyrolean Paznaun valley. In summer, motorboat service on the Silvretta storage lake at an altitude of 2,000 metres, which is unique in Europe; in winter, cross-country course runs across the ice-bound storage lake.
