Skorzeny, Otto#
Skorzeny, Otto, b. Vienna, June 12, 1908, d. Madrid (Spain), July 6, 1975, technician, officer of the Waffen-SS. Joined the Austrian NSDAP 1930, the Waffen-SS 1939. Served in several military actions: took part in the liberation of Mussolini, arrested the Hungarian government under N. Horthy, 1944 commander of tank brigade 150 which operated behind the front line with US military equipment; 1945 commander of an SS unit in Upper Austria. Captured in Styria on May 15, 1945, acquitted by a US military court 1947; escaped from internment and fled to Spain.
