Slattenschek, Adolf#
Slattenschek, Adolf, Graz. Styria, July 18, 1901, d. Klosterneuburg, Lower Austria, Sept. 20, 1979, engineer. Studied mechanical engineering at Graz University of Technology, then employed at the Technological Research Institute at Graz, from 1935 in Stuttgart as designer of race cars and aircraft engines. From 1942 also engaged in scientific work at Graz University of Technology, after 1945 set up a large mechanical engineering firm at Liezen, Styria. Abandoned all his previous functions when called to Vienna University of Technology in 1952 as Professor of Mechanical Technology and head of the University's Technological Research Institute. Significant achievements in the field of materials testing, esp. of steel for power stations and other applications.
