Spielfeld#

Spielfeld, Styria, municipality in the district of Leibnitz, alt. 260 m, pop. 942, area 10.11 km2, situated on the River Mur, in southern Styria, at the Slovenian frontier. - Spielfeld customs office, Grassnitzberg customs police (mobile task force), police office, Spielfeld run-of-river power station (built in 1982, 13 MW); forwarding and transport agencies, trade, wine and fruit-growing industry in the environs. - Parish church with west tower, which has a Gothic core; palace (around 1580-1620); column dedicated to the Virgin Mary (around 1700).
