Spittelberg#
Spittelberg, in the 7th district of Vienna, piece of land bought by the citizens´ hospital in 1692 (original name "Spitalberg", meaning "hospital hill"), called Spittelberg since ca. 1800), settled even before that time by Slovenes, Croats and Hungarians (called "Krowatendoerfel", i.e. "Croat village"). From here Kara Mustafa fired at the Vienna Burg palace in 1683. Owned by the Municipality of Vienna since 1795, merged with the 6th district of Vienna in 1850, with the 7th district in 1861.
