St. Lorenzen im Mürztal#

St. Lorenzen im Muerztal, Styria, market town in the district of Bruck an der Mur, alt. 569 m, pop. 3,053, area 38.10 km2, northeast of Kapfenberg. - St. Martin rural school of domestic sciences, festival hall, library; processing of wood and metal (stairs, windows, etc.), manufacture of high-precision turned parts. - Oldest parish in the Muerztal Valley (first documented mention in 860); pier basilica with late Romanesque core (reconstructed in Gothic style), important late Gothic frescoes and works by V. Koeniger (around 1770-1780); Palaces: Oberlorenzen (today accommodating the domestic science school), Nechelheim (first documented mention in 1188, core of the building from the 16th -17th  centuries) and Spiegelfeld.
