Staatsdruckerei, Oesterreichische, Vienna, founded as the imperial and government printing office in 1804 (office building in the 3rd district of Vienna, built 1889-1891); spun off from the federal institutions to form a separate business entity (Aktiengesellschaft, joint stock company) in 1997; in 1998 the publication "Wiener Zeitung" became a limited liability company (Ges. m. b. H.) and in 1999 the Oesterreichische Staatsdruckerei AG became Print Media Austria AG. Its most important business activities and products are offset printing, Verlag Oesterreich and multimedia publications. In 1999 the Oesterreichische Staatsdruckerei GmbH (OeSD) was spun off from this company. It concentrates on anti-falsification and security printing, stamps, ID cards, vouchers, share certificates and lottery tickets.
