Stampfer, Simon#

Stampfer, Simon, b. Raneburg in the municipality of Matrei (in East Tirol), Oct. 26, 1790, d. Vienna, Nov. 10, 1864, mathematician, geodesist. 1826-1849 Professor at the Vienna Polytechnical Institute, in 1832 invented the stroboscopic disk, which gives the impression of a ´running picture´ (film).
