Standschützen#
Standschuetzen, Tirolean associations of marksmen, who were deployed as part of the militia during World War I. They were approximately 24,000 in number and fought on the south-west front until 1918. Unlike other military units, the Standschuetzen were allowed to choose their officers themselves.
