Stecher, Franz Anton#

Stecher, Franz Anton, b. Nauders (Tyrol), Aug. 16, 1814, d. Innsbruck (Tyrol), Aug. 19, 1853, painter, one of the last representatives of the Nazarenes in Austria, student of L. Kupelwieser and J. von Fuehrich. At first a Jesuit, he refurbished the Jesuit College on the "Freinberg" hill in Linz in 1839-1843. After 1844 worked as independent artist in Innsbruck, 1848-1851 stay in North America.
