Steinboeck, Rudolf#

Steinboeck, Rudolf, b. Baden (Lower Austria), Aug. 7, 1908, d. Vienna, Aug. 19, 1996, actor, producer and theatre director. Husband of the actress A. Schmid; debut at provincial theatres, followed by engagements at smaller stages in Vienna and 1938-1945 at the Theater in der Josefstadt, of which he was managing director 1945-1953; from 1957 one of the busiest directors of the Vienna Burgtheater (classic and modern plays, especially by A. Schnitzler); performances on radio and TV.
