Stoessl, Otto#
Stoessl, Otto, b. Vienna, May 2, 1875, d. Vienna, d. Sept. 15, 1936, writer, theatre and literary critic, civil servant, from 1923 lived in retirement and worked as independent writer. Initially wrote theatre plays influenced by naturalism together with Robert Scheu ("Waare", 1897; "Tote Goetter", 1898); 1906-1911 wrote articles for the literary and political review "Fackel, Die", subsequently dedicated most of his time to novel writing. In his extensive dynastic novel "Das Haus Erath" (1920) he describes the decline of the bourgeoisie in old Austria.
