Streicher, Rudolf, b. Wallsee (Lower Austria), Jan. 19, 1939, manager and politician (Austrian Social Democratic Party, SPOe). 1974-1980 member of the board of Vereinigte Metallwerke Ranshofen-Berndorf AG, 1981-1986 managing director and chairman of the board of Austria Metall AG, 1986 and 1992-1998 managing director of Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG; 1986-1991 Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Transport; 1992 lost against T. Klestil in the presidential elections. 1999-2001 chairman of the board of the Oesterreichische Industrieholding AG.
